Lagos State Government Bans Day Time Movement of Trailers

Following the tragic accident in Ojuelegba last week, when a cement-laden container fell of the bridge and landed on an SUV killing three people, the Lagos State Government has now banned the movement of heavy duty trailers during the day time from 6am to 9pm.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of transportation,Mr Oluseyi Whenu disclosed this at a meeting with the various heads of the various transport unions in the state yesterday.

According to him,the restriction was to ensure strict adherence to the Road Traffic Laws which was often violalated by the trailer drivers.

He also added that the government would, henceforth,go tough on any trailer or long vehicle that disobeys this law,the vehicle would be impounded and the driver made to pay the stipulated fine.
